Fish Lake 11-5

Friday the 5th i fished “Fish” Lake. When i got there it was a little windy and right then i remembered the anchor was left at home. A little extra rowing never hurt anyone, there were 2 other boats on the lake and one was rowing aswell. Since i couldnt still fish with power eggs off the bottom i decided to put some underneath a bobber, and with the other rod i used an assortment of lures. The fishing was slow, when i put my pontoon boat in at the boat ramp a older gentleman was taking his boat out and said he had got skunked. Well that didnt discourage me because i rarely get skunked especially when i target trout in a lake. Well after almost 2 hours with no bites and repeatedly switching spinners, i decided to tie on a Thomas Buoyant Lure, and after a few cast i got my first fish, a really nasty looking 10″ rainbow trout it had lots of parasites and stuff on it so back it went. After catching that fish i made a few more cast in the same area and decided to start rowing back to the part of the lake i launched from, i had drifted pretty far with the wind. While rowing i decided to put my rods out and do a little trolling, and i actually got a little landlocked salmon. First fish iv caught wile trolling since February when i trolled for Mackinaw at Crescent Lake. I ended up catching one more little landlocked salmon on the Thomas Buoyant lure before it got dark. Talked to the other boat that pulled out at dark and he was catching them on some fly i forget the name of and wedding rings, which is one lure i had on me that i didnt use. Another great day of chasing fish, hopefully next time out i remember the anchor.

I am just impressed that your weather still tolerates getting your Pontoon out on the lake this time of year. Obviously, the anchor was a setback, but, looks like you managed ok!

  2. That’s some beautiful looking country. Sorry Fish Lake wasn’t, well, a little more fishy, but looks like a great day – gotta get in this late season fishing while we still can!

  4. I also found your blog on Outdoor Blogger Network! Your lake photos are GREAT! What’s been your favorite/most successful location?

Also just wanted to let you know that my website is hosting a virtual fishing contest right now and you can win a free Stratos boat along with a ton of other fishing prizes. The scenery isn’t as beautiful as yours but it’s great for the off season and during your day job! Enjoy!

Hi Shane, been following your blog for about a year now. So no fishing in December? Applegate trout are near the surface right now, you just have to brave the colder temps.
