3-20-10 Lake Selmac

I had a hard time waking up so i didnt get out there until around noon. And there was alot of people out there, a handful of bass boats and even a sail boat. I fished for about 2 hours with out any bites, so i decided to go sight seeing. I drove south and stopped at a state park on the Illinois River, took some pictures and met some hitch hikers who had some interesting names, Buzzard and Wild Irish Rose. I didnt give them a ride but i gave them some smoked trout which made the old guys day it seemed like. I ended up going into California for a bit, I took Oregon Mtn. road which is nice paved road that goes around a mountain right near the border. Got back on 199 and stopped at another park area on the Illinois river, this area was so beautiful i walked along the bank and took some pictures and picked up a couple handfuls of dutch brothers cups. I then went back to Lake Selmac to fish again, and most of the crowd was gone by then, stopped by the spillaway for some pictures then went over to the playground area for some fishing. I had one rod out with worms and powerbait and the other rod i was tossing a yellow and red dotted panther martin. It didnt take me long to get my limit all on that panther martin.

Lake Selmac 3-4-10

I went back to Lake Selmac for some trout fishing and if i had got 4 i would of switched over to some bass rigs. I only caught 1 here again, had about 5 bites i didnt get, others had stringers full by me, one guy got skunked that had been there awhile. All my bites came on night crawlers, but the people next to me were catching them on powerbait. The lake is full and going over the spill-a-way which was cool to see.  Heres some pictures…

This is the miniature golf course across the road from the only free parking area at the lake.

Lake Selmac 2-25-10

Thursday i fished Lake Selmac for the first time. For those of you that dont know of this lake, it has held the Oregon state record for bass a couple a times, they also stock it with trout. I got there a little after 1pm and had a bite right away on a half dead night crawler. I had about 6-8 bites the whole time there all on worms that werent that alive. There were about 4-5 of us fishing from the bank at the only free parking spot on the entire lake, every where else is 2 dollar fee, or a 50 dollar ticket. So if ever do come to this lake i suggest parking in the area by the resort right the miniature golf course, then u can walk to where ever and fish. So where i was fishing at, i was the only one getting bites other then this older lady from Idaho who out fished us all and caught 4 trout. I ended up with only 1 but it was still fun, met some great people and enjoyed a new lake.
